Social Work Pre service Education
The Strengthening Communities’ Responses to HIV/AIDS (SCRHA)projectis a three-year contract awarded to PATH and its partners to achieve USAID’s intended goal of strengthening the capacity of CSOs to improve access, quality, and demand for comprehensive HIV/AIDS services at community and household level so that health outcomes and quality of life of affected families could improve.
One of the major program components’ of SCRHA is Human Capacity Development for HIV/AIDS Services in the Community among others through support to pre-service training in social work in private and public training institutions. This program focuses on field placement of graduating students and deployment of volunteer graduates to CSOs through fellowship program to broaden an integrated HIV and AIDS services at community and household level.
This component of the project has the following objectives:
- Build collaborative relationships with social work pre-service training institutions.
- Integrate content of HIV, AIDS and related topics into social work pre-service curricula
- Strengthen the capacity of social work pre-service instructors to effectively impart knowledge and skills on HIV, AIDS and related topics.
- Strengthen the practical component of social work pre-service training.
- Promote the profession of social work in Ethiopia
