The core competencies and lessons drawn from ESSSWA’s Annual Conferences are the following:
(i)            Professionalism: Strengthen the socioeconomic contribution of professionals in the disciplines of sociology, social work and anthropology to the Ethiopian people through                 theoretical and empirical research
(ii)           Knowledge Management: Capacity building, training , sharing and learning & enhance public benefits using annual conferences and policy dialogues,
(iii)          Strengthening Membership: Support the interests of sociology, social work and anthropology professionals and like-minded organizations in  training, information  and                 knowledge sharing; and
(i)            Organizational Strengthening: of ESSSWA and its chapters, forging partnership and networking with national and international organizations
