The overall goal of this project is to contribute towards creating a safer environment for the growth and wellbeing of children in Ethiopia focusing on prevention of violence against children. ESSSWA, through this project intervention, will enhance quality action-research by young professionals and quality service provision by duty bearers. Assisted by this project, ESSSWA will enhance professional and institutional capacity building of itself and those actors engaged in social protection of sexually abused and exploited children. The project will also promote leaning, documenting lessons, experience sharing and dissemination of information on timely basis. Furthermore, the project aims at promoting exchange of good practices among professionals working for government and non-government organizations, which will ultimately trigger more action on the protection of child abuse and sexual exploitation. By doing this, the project strives to nurture, support and complement evidence-based implementation of projects that aim at tackling child abuse, sexual exploitation and child neglect in Ethiopia. Description of Actual services provides by ESSSWA: ESSSWA supports efforts to improve capacities of practitioners, academicians and students of Sociology, Social Work and Anthropology using seminars, workshops and research and ensures violence prevention and assists the implementation of the national social protection policy. ESSSWA also supports the dissemination of good practices and research findings on key child protection issues with a focus on prevention of violence against children, sexual abuse and exploitation. Eventual ESSWA’s organizational capacity , both at its secretariat office level and at the level of its regional chapters, is built in various areas enabling it to achieve its overall vision.
